KCC Court Watchers
Attend public hearings, document proceedings, and hold Colorado courts accountable through organized citizen observation. No legal background required.
Our Mission
Sunlight Is the Best Disinfectant.
Court Watchers are the eyes and ears of the coalition inside Colorado's courtrooms. By showing up, taking notes, and reporting back, we create a public record that judges and administrators cannot ignore.
You don't need a law degree. You need a notepad, a commitment to accuracy, and the willingness to show up. The presence of an informed citizen observer changes the dynamic in any proceeding.
Citizen Observation
Attend scheduled public hearings as an organized, credentialed coalition observer.
Standardized Documentation
Record proceedings using KCC observation forms designed to capture legally relevant details.
Public Record Building
Compile findings into a permanent, searchable record of judicial conduct and procedural compliance.
Coalition Coordination
Report findings weekly and coordinate with legal research, OARC, and communications teams.
What to Expect
Court Watchers receive a brief orientation, a standardized observation form, and assignment to upcoming hearings. You report your findings at the Thursday 5:00 PM MT working group meeting. No prior legal experience is needed — just attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Show Up. Take Notes. Make History.
Colorado's courts are public institutions. The Court Watchers program puts organized, credentialed citizen observers in the room — and on the record. Join us.
